11u First Pitch Champions!

Congratulations to the 11u Bombers for taking the championship in the 2009 First Pitch Tournament in Clearwater, FL!!! Their dominating pitching and relentless offensive attack took them to finals versus the St Pete Stingers which they won 16-8. Expectations are sky-high for the remainder of the Fall AAU season, so wish them luck as they work toward a State Championship!

 

Game and Practice Nutrition

foodThe modern parent usually struggles to keep up with their kids' busy schedules while maintaining their own hectic work day. When families are rushed the first thing to go is usually nutritious meals in favor of quick meals. Aida Aragon, our resident nutrition expert, has provided some quick guidelines and suggestions for the busy life of a baseball/softball parent.

Pregame/Prepractice

Most of the time practice or games happen after school and before dinner. Since most schools are offering lunch earlier and earlier these days, it is important to give your kids a nutritious snack before practice. While the body needs fuel to perform, the brain also needs fuel to help retain information and maximize hand-eye coordination.

Coaches Corner - Hitting Vol. 1

As pitchers get better and throw harder, the reaction time a hitter has to make his decision and swing gets shorter and shorter. One of the building blocks we teach here at All Star helps eliminate extra movement in the swing. The secret is to separate the "trigger" from the swing.

In every athletic motion there are two parts. First, there is a small action getting the body in position. This preparation phase, or trigger, is typically small, slow, and in the opposite direction of the main action. The second part is the main action.

All Star Members Sign College Scholarships

Center fielder John Rothwell and pitcher Jordan Lindsay, both 2011 graduates of Shorecrest Preparatory High School and members of the All Star Baseball School family, have signed college scholarships to play baseball in the fall.  John will be attending Daytona State College in  Daytona Beach, FL and Jordan will attend Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN.  From all of the coaches and staff at All Star Baseball School, we wish John and Jordan the best of luck in their upcoming college baseball careers.
